Should you turn the claim in:
- Was the damage sudden or accidental?
- Who’s at-fault?
- Does the estimated damage exceed your deductible?
- Are you going to get your vehicle fixed?
Before an accident:
- Copy of insurance ID card in wallet or glovebox
- Save the toll-free number to insurance carrier
- Know your coverage (rental car reimbursement, roadside, towing, deductibles, etc.)
- Picture of your undamaged vehicle
- Have contact info for your local auto garage
- Have an inventory of possessions in the car
During an accident:
- Take photos of all involved vehicles
- Get a police report if applicable
- Get names, phone numbers, insurance info, etc. of all involved parties
- Take important items out of car if safe
- Call rental car company and towing if covered on policy
- Witness’s information (name, phone number, etc.)
